14 Pin Martenici
This year I didn’t make necklaces, but rather more pins, because I finally managed to find the little bar pins for the back, that hold the actual pins.
I wanted to make different designs, so this is what I came up with in a day! Thanks to my beautiful 3 year old daughter, I took some really nice pictures of the pins!
1. A white flower pin with feathers- I enjoyed making these very much, unfortunately i don’t know to whom to give them as gifts, I run out of people to wear them.
The flower’s middle is polished white button that has a reflector surface, that isn’t visible from the first picture, so here is another one.
2. A flower pin on a hearth shaped vellum base with feathers and pearls.
Here is the same one but not on my daughter’s dress
3. Another flower-feather combination, the button has sparkles on it ( you can see that on the second picture)
4. Sparkling flower
And here again you can see the transparent sparkle around the edges of the flower
5. Ribbon-made Martenica
Here is another look
6. Vellum flower with beads
7. “You have my hearth”,that I am wearing right now! A vellum hearth stuffed with cotton balls.
Different look
8. A more “traditional” style
9. Another ” traditional” style
10. This is for my dog. In Bulgaria it’s believed that a blue bead can protect you from harm, so I added two, just in case! You all know that my poor dog went through so much, I’m relying even on superstitions now!
11. Now these little creatures are Buga-Bugas as my daughter named them ( I guess because of Dora the Explorer’s movies 😉 . Little worms or whatever you want to call them. I made 6, since all of the kids around us wanted the same as my son and daughter’s 🙂
Here they are, the little rascals! 🙂
12. These flowers were for my son’s teachers in his class room
This is how they looked on the back side, notice the bar pins!
13. This straw hat pin was for my son’s speech therapist
14. This flower-ribbon pin was for my son’s special ed teacher
Let me know what you think? Which one is your favorite?
Tomorrow I’ll post the bracelet martenici I made Sunday!
hope you like them and they inspire you to make yours! If you use any of the ideas, please let me know! I would love to see what you have made!
If you decide to use any of the pictures, please have the courtesy of providing a backlink to my site!
