I have been working on some sketches for the cards with hand drawings and I wanted to show you. I have more cards of course, but these illustrations are something very new to me and I wanted to share how I’ve done them. Basically at first I’ve looked for cute pictures online to look at. I’ve never tried drawing ” cartoon” type of pictures, so it was very difficult at first to figure out how they are supposed to look like. So I needed guidance until I was ready to make my own. The drawings that I made I made by hand with a pencil and paper ( blue and orange) for the sketches, then with the help of a light box I’ve transferred them on white cardstock. After that I’ve used Prismacolor pencils to color the images, then I’ve used some Gamsol on top of that to blend the colors. A friend told me about the Copic markers and they are probably better for the job but unfortunately they are really expensive, so I had to figure out a way to do this. It was between watercolor pencils, the Prismacolor pencils+ Gamsol and watercolor. I’ve decided for the Gamsol, since I haven’t used it that much and wanted to learn how to do that. Have in mind, that for some of the drawings I’ve looked at stamps like these but I drew them myself with pencil. Sometimes I drew similar images in different positions/situations and some of them are completely my own design etc. I apologize I don’t have all the websites I’ve looked at, since I was just browsing though Google Images, but here are few: ScrapBitz,Handmade by Odette etc. Here is what they looked like when they were sketched and when finished. I’ll use them to make more cards today, before the festival.
